The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed any possibility of reconciliation with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, asserting that both have chosen to go their separate ways.
Speaking during a media parley to mark his first year in office as FCT Minister, Wike emphasized that his priority is to fulfill President Bola Tinubu’s mandate and not to support Fubara. He made it clear that his decision regarding Fubara is final and unwavering.
Wike expressed disappointment, recalling how he fought tirelessly to ensure Fubara became governor, only for Fubara to distance himself from their political family after assuming office.
“In all sincerity, I have no regrets fighting for Fubara to become governor. But if he has chosen not to be part of the family, so be it. Just like Aregbesola was once aligned with Tinubu but is no longer with him, these things happen,” Wike said.
He continued, “There’s no turning back on this. My people are aware of the situation. Some politicians lack integrity, but that’s not how I operate. Fubara has decided to stay on his own, so I’ll do the same.”
Wike concluded by stating that he remains focused on the responsibilities assigned to him by President Tinubu, unfazed by the fallout with Fubara.
