In response to the escalating security challenges in Kaduna State, a specialized intervention squad comprising two hundred officers and personnel from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been dispatched to the region.

The squad arrived in Kaduna on Sunday and held a crucial meeting with Governor Uba Sani at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

Governor Uba Sani expressed his appreciation to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetekun for swiftly deploying the Special Squad equipped with Armoured Personal Carriers and various other weapons to address the resurgence of terrorism and criminal activities in the state. He also extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmad Tinubu and the Federal Government, along with security agencies, for the successful rescue of the kidnapped Kuriga School Children.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Military has disclosed the intricate details of a successful rescue operation that led to the liberation of several students abducted by bandits from Kuriga, Kaduna State. According to Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, the military, in collaboration with local authorities and government agencies across the country, conducted a thorough search and rescue operation.

The operation, initiated following the abduction of the students on March 7, 2024, culminated in their rescue in the early hours of March 24, 2024. The rescued hostages, numbering 137, comprised 76 females and 61 males. They were found in Zamfara State and are set to be handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further action.

Major General Buba also disclosed that in a separate operation, troops rescued 16 pupils (Almajiris) and a woman who were held hostage in Gada LGA of Sokoto State. These rescued individuals have been safely handed over to the state government.

Assuring continued efforts in combating criminal elements across the nation, Major General Buba reaffirmed the military’s commitment to tracking down perpetrators, including those responsible for the recent killing of soldiers in Delta State, and ensuring that they face justice.
