President Bola Tinubu engaged in a significant meeting on Tuesday with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, focusing on the recent tragic events involving the killing of Nigerian Army officers and soldiers in Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori visited the State House in Abuja to provide a briefing to the President regarding the developments surrounding the killings.

Following the meeting, Governor Oborevwori addressed journalists, affirming that the situation had been brought under control. He assured that the perpetrators responsible for the deaths of sixteen soldiers in Okuoma community, Ughelli South council area, would face justice.

Furthermore, Governor Oborevwori disclosed that measures had been enacted to prevent the recurrence of such attacks in the future.

However, when pressed for details regarding reported reprisal attacks by the military and the casualty count, Governor Oborevwori refrained from confirming the specifics. Citing the sensitivity of the security situation, he emphasized certain limitations on publicly disclosed information.

The Governor also revealed that he convened with security officials in Bomadi the previous day. However, efforts to engage with the affected community have been hampered as the area remains deserted in the aftermath of the incident.

As the situation continues to evolve, further updates are expected to provide clarity on the circumstances and responses surrounding the tragic events in Delta State.
