Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre following his appearance before the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday.
The remand order was issued by Justice Emeka Nwite, who directed that Malami be held in custody pending further proceedings in the case before the court.
Malami, who served as Nigeria’s chief law officer during the previous administration, was brought to court earlier today amid heightened public interest surrounding the matter. Although the specific details of the charges were not immediately made public in court, the development marks a significant legal turn involving the former minister.
The court is expected to fix a date for the continuation of proceedings, including possible consideration of bail and the formal reading of charges.
More details are expected to emerge as the case unfolds.
