President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State following his decisive victory in the just-concluded gubernatorial election.

Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, emerged victorious in all 18 local government areas of the state, defeating his closest challenger, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), along with other contenders.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed the election as a testament to the progress of Nigeria’s electoral process. He praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efficiency, citing early deployment of materials and personnel as well as the prompt uploading of results, which reportedly exceeded 98 percent on election day.

“This election serves as another litmus test for INEC, and the electoral body has once again demonstrated its ability to uphold the confidence of Nigerians through meticulous preparation and execution,” the statement read.

The president lauded the peaceful nature of the election, crediting both the candidates and the electorate for their civility and sense of purpose. He urged any aggrieved parties to channel their grievances through lawful means, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace during post-election proceedings.

“President Bola Tinubu congratulates Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his well-deserved victory in the Ondo State Governorship election,” the statement continued. “He also commends other candidates from the 17 political parties for conducting themselves with maturity throughout the campaigns and election process.”

President Tinubu expressed his appreciation for the security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, the military, and the National Youth Service Corps, for ensuring peace and order during the election.

The president called on political actors in the state to maintain the same level of decorum demonstrated during the election in all post-election activities.

“This victory reflects the collective will of the people of Ondo State,”

“I urge all stakeholders to prioritize the state’s progress and unity as we move forward.” Tinubu added
