President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on newly sworn-in commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and members of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Board to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, dedication, and a deep sense of duty to the nation.
The President made the appeal on Monday via a post on his official 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account, shortly after administering the oath of office to the appointees at the State House Council Chambers in Abuja. The swearing-in ceremony was held just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Reiterating the importance of their roles, Tinubu emphasized that the work of the new officials would significantly influence the effectiveness of Nigeria’s democratic institutions and help bolster public confidence in both the electoral process and public service ethics.
“I encourage them to uphold the highest standards of integrity in their roles and actively contribute to the advancement of both organisations,” the President stated. “Their efforts will play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of our electoral processes and promoting accountability, ultimately benefiting our nation as a whole.”
The newly sworn-in INEC Commissioners include Mallam Tukur Abdulrazaq Yusuf, representing the Northwest geopolitical zone, and Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja, representing Ebonyi State.
Also inaugurated were two members of the Code of Conduct Bureau Board — Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem from Cross River State and retired Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure from Taraba State.
President Tinubu’s administration has repeatedly stressed the importance of institutional integrity and transparency as part of its broader agenda to reform and strengthen democratic governance in Nigeria.
