The Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Rimingado, has reaffirmed that former Kano State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Abdullahi Ganduje, remains under prosecution for alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, Rimingado confirmed that the case, which dates back to 2021, will proceed despite recent challenges.
“Yes, we are prosecuting him in person. In fact, we started this investigation in 2021,” Rimingado stated. “I was made to leave and went through a series of tribulations, including arrest, detention, assault, and humiliation. When I came back, I continued from where I stopped. So, I am not witch-hunting anybody.”
A Kano State High Court has scheduled February 13, 2025, to hear preliminary objections in the case. The charges, filed by the Kano State Government, involve an eight-count indictment of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds allegedly amounting to billions of naira.
The prosecution is not limited to Ganduje alone. Other defendants include his wife, Hafsat Umar, and several individuals and entities: Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.
Rimingado’s determination to pursue the case comes amid his own legal battles and recent arrest. However, he remains resolute, maintaining that the case is based on merit and not politically motivated.
