The Senator representing Rivers East, Allwell Onyesoh, has declared that he and his political associates will intensify efforts to convince the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Onyesoh, who recently defected from the PDP to the APC, made the remarks in a video circulating on social media, where he accused the PDP of failing to appreciate Wike’s contributions and attempting to frustrate his political efforts.

According to the senator, Wike remains his political leader, but the former Rivers State governor should no longer remain in a party he believes has become hostile to him.

“Wike is our leader and we are going to pull him out of that party,” Onyesoh said. “He has done so much for that party and they are not even appreciative of him. We won’t allow him to remain there.”

He alleged that the PDP has taken advantage of Wike’s influence and sacrifices over the years without reciprocating loyalty or support.

“They have used him enough,” the senator said. “One of these days, we are going to his house to pull him out of that party. We will force and pull him out.”

Onyesoh emphasized that his loyalty to Wike remains firm, crediting the FCT minister for his emergence as a senator.

“Yes, he is my leader and he will continue to be my leader,” he said. “I only wanted to be a senator because of my dreams for my people, and he was able to assist me in realizing that.”

He warned that he would not allow what he described as “charlatans” within the PDP to undermine or overburden the minister.

“I don’t want any group of charlatans to destroy the man or frustrate him or make him work more than he should,” Onyesoh said. “He is our own.”

The lawmaker added that persistent pressure would be applied until Wike defects to the APC, insisting that the minister belongs with those he helped politically.

“We will worry him until he leaves,” he said. “He made us, so he should come to where we are. God used him to bring us to where we are, so let him leave their party and come to where we are.”

Onyesoh also took a swipe at the PDP, describing the opposition party as weakened and lacking the capacity for revival.

“For me, the PDP is lying frustrated on the ground,” he said. “I’m not seeing anything in the near future trying to resurrect it because they continue the same way—new warlocks are coming up where the old ones stopped.”

His comments come amid ongoing political realignments in Rivers State and renewed speculation over Wike’s long-term political future.
