After weeks of anticipation and speculation, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has officially announced that it will deliver its judgment on Wednesday, September 6, in response to three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Umar Mohammed Bangari, confirmed the date for the highly-anticipated judgment. The Court of Appeal is the venue for this crucial event, and Bangari assured that all necessary preparations have been made to ensure a smooth and trouble-free delivery of the verdict in the three petitions.
The petitions in question were filed by prominent political figures, including the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abubakar Atiku, and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi. Additionally, the Allied Peoples Movement (APC) has also filed a petition challenging the election results.
Bangari emphasized that strict security measures have been put in place to maintain order and prevent any potential security breaches during the judgment announcement. As a precaution, only invited representatives of the political parties involved and members of the general public will be granted access to the courtroom to prevent overcrowding.
