The Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) has called for the election of a President from Nigeria’s Southeast region in 2027, believing that such a move would foster national unity.

During the inauguration of the Abia State executives in Umuahia, ACC Chairman Olusegun Peters emphasized the significance of this proposal, noting that the Igbo people have not had the opportunity to produce a Nigerian President since the tragic assassination of former head of state, General Johnson Aguiyi-Ironsi, on July 29, 1966.

Peters, represented by the ACC National Vice Chairman for the Northwest, Ibrahim Abdullahi, highlighted that in the 25 years since the restoration of democracy, no individual from the Igbo ethnic group has held the presidency. In contrast, both the North and South West regions have each had two terms in office.

He assured that the ACC is dedicated to promoting fairness and will actively support the equitable distribution of power among Nigeria’s three principal ethnic groups: Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba.

Abdullahi also praised the Igbo community as hardworking and expressed optimism that the current economic challenges facing the nation could be effectively addressed through the innovative leadership of an Igbo President.

During the inauguration of the new Abia executives, the National Party Chairman underscored the importance of unity and collaboration within the State Working Committee (SWC). He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to representing the interests of all Nigerians, regardless of religious, ethnic, or educational backgrounds.

In separate addresses, National Vice Chairman for North-Central, Hon. Illya Juan, National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq, and National Vice Chairman for South-East, Vincent Eberechukwu, congratulated the newly inaugurated executives for their dedication. They expressed confidence that the new leadership would guide the party to success in the upcoming elections.

In his remarks, acting State Chairman of the ACC, Onyekachi Uwalaka, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in the new state executive. He assured that the party would be strategically positioned to secure governorship and legislative victories in Abia by 2027.

The inauguration also featured other key party officials, including State Vice Chairman Dr. Jiwuba Peter and party Secretary Dr. Innocent Ikoro, among other principal officers.
