On Monday, July 29, a group of youths in Lagos State organized a counter-protest in response to the planned nationwide demonstration scheduled to begin on August 1.
The upcoming protest, gaining traction on social media, is expected to span all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The counter-protesters, who gathered from various areas, convened on Lagos Island to express their support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration. They urged their peers to refrain from participating in violent protests.
Highlighting the damaging outcomes of the 2020 #EndSARS protest in Lagos—where property was destroyed and lives were lost—the youths emphasized their commitment to preventing a recurrence of such turmoil.
