The presidency announced on Tuesday that President Bola Tinubu will not deliver a broadcast to the nation on Wednesday to mark his first year in office. Instead, President Tinubu will address a joint session of the National Assembly, which has organized a program to commemorate 25 years of Nigeria’s democratic journey at both the executive and legislative levels.

Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, made this announcement. He stated that President Tinubu’s address to the joint session will highlight the achievements of his administration and the progress of Nigeria’s democracy since the transition from military to civilian rule in 1999.

The event will also feature speeches from several prominent figures, including former Senate President David Mark, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and current Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and former military ruler General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who oversaw the handover to civilian administration in 1999.

Following the speeches, President Tinubu will commission the newly established National Assembly Library and Resource Center, which will be named the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Building.
