The Federal High Court in Abuja has denied the request of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Biafra nation agitators, to reinstate his bail and secure his release from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). Justice Binta Nyako, presiding over the case, reiterated that a similar request had been previously dismissed due to its lack of merit.

In her ruling, Justice Nyako emphasized that Kanu had violated the conditions of his bail by fleeing the country. She also highlighted that the individuals who had served as sureties for Kanu during his initial bail had sought to be relieved of their responsibilities, citing their inability to locate him or ascertain his whereabouts.

Justice Nyako advised that Kanu’s only viable option now is to appeal to the Court of Appeal and pursue his right to appeal. She refuted the claims made by Kanu’s main lawyer, who argued that the Supreme Court ruling supported the notion that Kanu’s bail should not have been revoked. After reviewing the Supreme Court’s judgment, Justice Nyako confirmed that she did not find support for the lawyer’s assertions.

Meanwhile, Kanu has continued to criticize the legal proceedings and has refused to participate in any legal actions in Nigeria, arguing that prosecuting him would violate Nigeria’s Constitution and international regulations.
