The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has called upon security agencies to delve into the root causes of Nigeria’s security challenges.

Speaking at the Northwestern High-Security zonal conference organized by the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS) in Kano, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of proactive strategies in combating the prevalent insecurities.

Governor Yusuf underscored that while discussions are vital for idea sharing, tangible progress necessitates active involvement from stakeholders in gathering information and implementing real actions. He challenged security agencies to utilize intelligence data gathering to uncover the identities of those behind criminal activities, urging them to delve into whether they are politicians, traditional leaders, religious figures, or members of the business community.

“I challenge you to use intelligence data gathering to locate the whereabouts of those perpetrating the crimes, are they Politicians, Traditional Leaders, Religious or Business Community, do more to unravel those sponsoring and conducting attacks on innocent lives for the Country to be peaceful,” Governor Yusuf stated.

In other developments, the Kano State government has allocated an additional ₦5 billion for the distribution of the second portion of pension gratuity to retired employees in the state. Governor Yusuf disclosed this during a state executive council meeting at the Government House, Kano.

According to a press release issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the government had previously disbursed ₦6 billion to settle outstanding payments for numerous retirees who had not received their entitlements during the eight years of the immediate past administration.
