Expose reveals ex-governor’s children dined on extravagant international cuisines while citizens suffered deprivation.

A recent report has shed light on the lunch menu at the American International School of Abuja (AISA), where it was discovered that the children of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, indulged in lavish international cuisines while Kogi citizens endured hardship and deprivation.

According to documents obtained by The Whistler, the former governor allegedly utilized state funds to pay nearly $846,000 in advance tuition fees for five of his children at AISA. The revelation comes amidst accusations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that Bello misappropriated state funds.

The lunch menu for April 2024 at AISA, where Bello’s children were enrolled, reads like a guide to world-class restaurants, featuring a variety of extravagant dishes. These include Philly cheesesteak, Salami pizza, BBQ chicken burritos, beef kebabs with jollof rice, char-grilled chicken with mac and cheese, chutney chicken sandwiches, and chicken shawarma wraps.

Each meal was accompanied by fresh vegetable sides such as niçoise salad, fattoush salads, coleslaw, and Greek salads. Moreover, vegetarian options like avocado and feta sandwiches, falafel wraps, lentil spaghetti bolognese, and tofu with mushrooms in sauce over rice were also available. The menu further included fresh fruit and drinks daily.

The stark contrast between the opulent menu enjoyed by Bello’s children and the alleged suffering of Kogi State citizens has sparked outrage. The petition filed by Kogi Conscience before the EFCC accused Bello of inflicting “unprecedented maladministration, deprivation, and under-development” on the people of Kogi State.
