Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has dissolved the 21 local government chairmen, whose tenure concluded on Monday, February 5, commending them for their service during a gathering at the Council Chamber of the Government House.
In a statement issued by the governor’s media aide, Ahmed Idris, Governor Idris expressed appreciation to the people and government of Kebbi State for the invaluable contributions of the outgoing chairmen to their respective localities and the state as a whole.
During the meeting with the outgoing chairmen at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the governor commended them for their performance and the progress achieved in their local government areas. He urged them to promptly hand over government property to the Directors of Personnel Management (DPM) of their councils in accordance with local government administration laws.
Governor Idris emphasized the need to respect the laws governing local government administration and encouraged the outgoing chairmen to continue supporting the government’s efforts for the overall success of the state.
He assured that his administration would remain committed to delivering dividends of democracy across the state in fulfillment of their campaign promises.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing local government chairmen, Aminu Sarkin-Fada, the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria in the state, expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for his support. Sarkin-Fada highlighted initiatives such as the distribution of free fertilizers to farmers and cash disbursement for empowerment, crediting these programs for the progress and self-reliance achieved in the state.
He acknowledged the role of Governor Idris’s support and generosity in the success of these initiatives, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to serve their communities.
