President Bola Tinubu, currently on a private visit to France, has rallied support for the Super Eagles ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final clash against Angola. In a video call shared on his son Seyi Tinubu’s Instagram story, President Tinubu, donning the Eagles’ home jersey, addressed the team through a computer.

The president, in the muted videos, provided a quick pep talk to boost the morale of the Super Eagles as they prepared to face Angola in the crucial match. The caption on the Instagram story read, “Mr President Bola Tinubu giving Super Eagles a quick pep talk ahead of Today’s AFCON match against Angola.”

The Super Eagles are scheduled to play against Angola at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, with the match set for Friday at 6 pm.

The starting lineup for Nigeria includes Stanley Nwabali in goal, who has passed a late fitness test after sustaining an injury in the second-round match against Cameroon. Coach Jose Peseiro has maintained the traditional 3-4-3 formation, with William Troost-Ekong, Semi Ajayi, and Calvin Bassey forming the defensive trio in front of Nwabali.

Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi will serve as wing-backs on the right and left flanks, while the midfield will be controlled by the duo of Alex Iwobi and Frank Onyeka. Leading the attack will be Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, and Ademola Lookman.

The president’s virtual show of support adds an extra layer of encouragement as the Super Eagles aim for success in the AFCON quarter-finals.
