President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, expressing grief over what he described as “mindless and brutal bloodletting.” The victims, Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola, were murdered on Monday.

Tinubu also directed the immediate rescue of six pupils, three teachers, and a driver kidnapped near Eporo-Ekiti. The gunmen abandoned the school bus after the attack. In a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu pledged that the perpetrators would not escape justice.

The President extended condolences to the families of the slain monarchs, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, and the people of Ekiti State. He stated, “It is with grief that President Bola Tinubu receives the news of the killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State,” and condemned the violence.

Ngelale’s statement assured Nigerians that the nation’s security architecture is being fortified for better outcomes. Meanwhile, Governor Oyebanji expressed deep condolences to the affected families and residents of Ekiti State, describing the incident as an “appalling act of violence in a relatively peaceful state.”

Oyebanji called for swift and thorough investigations into the crime, urging security agencies to take decisive actions against the perpetrators. He emphasized the need for a collective effort to address the rising criminality and urged vigilance among citizens.

The governor stressed the importance of fostering a culture of peace, tolerance, and respect for human life. He called on the community to unite against violence and support efforts to promote peace, unity, and justice in Ekiti State and beyond.
