On Saturday, December 30, Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Rotimi Akeredolu, the former governor of Ondo state, at their residence in Ibadan, Oyo state.

Mrs. Tinubu, accompanied by Bayo Lawal, the deputy governor of Oyo state, and other dignitaries, arrived at the Jerico mansion in Akeredolu around 12:45 pm.

Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the late governor, and other family members warmly welcomed the First Lady during the visit.

Expressing her condolences, Mrs. Tinubu lamented the loss of a great man in the passing of Akeredolu. She described the former Ondo State governor as a remarkable individual whose absence would be deeply felt.

During the visit, Mrs. Tinubu shared her thoughts, saying, “We can only wish that the legacies he left behind can continue and endure. I wish his wife, his children, grandchildren, and the family that God will comfort them and also ease their pains.” She acknowledged Akeredolu’s positive impact, stating, “He has done well to people, he will be solidly missed, and may his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Reflecting on the fragility of life, Mrs. Tinubu remarked, “I keep asking when somebody asks people if somebody is alright or is he sick, I said, who is well? We all have one ailment or the other, and it is only God that gives us each day to live by.”
