UEFA, the European football governing body, has launched an investigation into allegations of inappropriate noises during the broadcast of the Euro 2024 draw on Saturday. The incident occurred when Switzerland was being drawn into Group A alongside hosts Germany, Scotland, and Hungary.
During the live draw, sounds suspected to be related to sexual activities were heard, reminiscent of a similar incident during the BBC live broadcast of the FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves in January. Controversial YouTuber Daniel Jarvis, who previously claimed responsibility for the January incident, has reportedly announced himself as the instigator behind the Euro 2024 draw disruption.
Jarvis made the revelation via a live stream on X, confirming to his viewers that he was behind the disruptive noises during the draw ceremony. “Listen, that was us. We got it in there, we put the phone in there, we rung it, sex noise at the Euro 2024 draw,” he excitedly announced during the broadcast.
Giorgio Marchetti, the BBC host of the live broadcast, acknowledged the disruption, stating, “There was some noise here, but it has since stopped.” England manager Gareth Southgate, present in the audience, confirmed hearing the noises and speculated that it was likely a prank. However, he noted that it was challenging to discern the nature of the disturbance.
