Diezani Allison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, has made a plea for prayers from Nigerians as she faces multi-million-pound allegations and charges of bribery and corruption brought against her by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA). Her request came following a hearing on the fifth floor of a UK courtroom where she was present.
Benedict Peters, another individual linked to the case, was represented by a prominent lawyer who traveled from Nigeria to attend the hearing. Emeka Ozoani (SAN), the legal representative, expressed his opinion on the case, stating, “the case is weak” and unlikely to stand.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Ozoani emphasized that the NCA had spent five to six years investigating the case and was now attempting to justify their use of taxpayers’ money. When asked if he had traveled from Nigeria solely for the hearing, he confirmed, “Yes. I came because of my client.”
The legal proceedings against Diezani Allison-Madueke have garnered significant attention, and her plea for prayers reflects the gravity of the charges brought against her by the UK authorities.
