In a shocking revelation, Ishioma Ordu, a 48-year-old filling station supervisor, has admitted to orchestrating a robbery attack on his former place of employment with the intent to steal N6.8 million. The incident took place at a filling station along Benin-Agbor Road in Benin City, where Ordu had previously worked.

According to the Edo State Police, Ordu is allegedly responsible for not only robbing but also fatally shooting his former colleague supervisor, Eze Emmanuel, during the robbery.

Ordu, who hails from Oshimil North Local Government Area of Delta State, confessed to his involvement in planning the robbery but asserted that he had instructed the robbers not to harm anyone.

Ordu, while being paraded by the Edo police command, disclosed that he had organized the robbery because he felt unfairly treated by the filling station’s owner. He explained that he had been suspended indefinitely and had not received his N80,000 salary for the month.

“I have been working at the petrol filling station for about three years. Towards the end of last July, I beat up a girl who was a petrol attendant at the station,” Ordu explained. “My director suspended me and refused to pay me that month. Even when I sent text messages to beg him, he didn’t respond. The next thing I heard was that he had travelled abroad. That is what gave me the mind to do that act.”

Ordu further revealed that he had instructed the robbers to target the supervisor responsible for turning on the generator when the electricity supply from the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) was cut off. He had told them not to harm anyone beyond the generator house, as armed policemen were stationed on the premises.

The robbery occurred at approximately 12:43 a.m. on September 11, 2023, during which the supervisor, Eze Emmanuel, lost his life, and the robbers made away with N6.8 million.

Following the successful heist, Ordu admitted that the stolen money was shared among the culprits on an undeveloped land near the petrol station. He confessed to receiving over N4 million from the proceeds of the robbery, which he used to purchase an unregistered Toyota Sienna car.

Ordu was apprehended in Lagos and is currently in police custody, facing charges related to the robbery and the tragic death of his former colleague. The case serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of criminal actions and the importance of addressing workplace disputes through legal means rather than resorting to violence and criminality.
