Former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Climate Action for Africa (CAP-A).
This announcement was made by Osinbajo himself via his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), on Wednesday, September 27, 2023.
This marks the second major appointment for Professor Yemi Osinbajo since leaving his vice-presidential office on May 29. In response to the appointment, Osinbajo expressed his enthusiasm for leading climate action initiatives across the African continent and working alongside an exceptional team.
In his statement, he wrote, “Thrilled to announce that I have accepted the offer to lead the Climate Action for Africa (CAP-A) as the new Chair of the Board of Directors! Truly excited to drive climate action across Africa alongside an incredible team.”
The appointment of Professor Osinbajo to this role underscores his commitment to addressing critical environmental challenges and fostering sustainable practices within the African continent.

Meanwhile, Laolu Akande, the former spokesperson of Yemi Osinbajo, has commended President Bola Tinubu for his address at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) held in New York. President Tinubu used his platform to highlight pressing issues facing Africa, including foreign exploitation of natural resources, human trafficking, forced migration, and climate change.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Akande lauded President Tinubu’s efforts in reestablishing the significance of Nigeria’s voice in the international community. He emphasized the importance of turning the speech into concrete foreign policy actions and advised President Tinubu to assemble a capable foreign policy team to help transform his vision into reality.
