Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on residents of the Ikorodu Division to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections, saying the President deserves another term based on his performance in Lagos and across Nigeria.

Sanwo-Olu made the call on Thursday during a meeting with traditional rulers and political leaders from the Ikorodu Division at the palace of the Paramount Ruler of the division and Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi.

The governor, who attended the meeting alongside his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said continued support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) was necessary to sustain development in both Lagos State and the country.

According to Sanwo-Olu, Tinubu’s record in Lagos and his achievements since becoming President justify his return to office in 2027.

“Development has transformed Lagos. We can see what the President has done in Lagos State and elsewhere in Nigeria.

“He deserves to be re-elected because of his performance. So, let us campaign and work towards President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he said.

Sanwo-Olu also urged residents of Ikorodu to honour their pledge of delivering 250,000 votes for Tinubu and other APC candidates during the 2027 elections.

He further declared his support for Hamzat’s bid to succeed him as Lagos State governor, urging party members and residents to work towards securing victory for the deputy governor.

“I will work for the victory of Dr Obafemi Hamzat as my successor. Let us get him elected as the next governor of Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The governor commended traditional rulers and political leaders in the division for their continued support for the APC, urging them to mobilise voters ahead of the elections.

Hamzat, in his remarks, called on traditional rulers, political leaders, APC members and residents of Ikorodu to actively participate in the 2027 electoral process and vote for all the party’s candidates.

He described Tinubu’s re-election as essential to sustaining the reforms and development agenda of the current administration, while highlighting the President’s leadership experience.

The meeting was attended by the APC deputy governorship candidate, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James; Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelious Ojelabi; members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC); traditional rulers; political leaders and other public office holders from the Ikorodu Division.
