Former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Ibrahim Aliyu, has died after a prolonged illness, bringing an end to a public service career that spanned decades.
Family sources confirmed that Aliyu passed away in Sokoto, according to reports by Channels Television.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed deep sadness over the former deputy governor’s death, describing it as a significant loss to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State and the country.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor praised Aliyu’s record of public service and personal character.
“Kebbi State has lost one of its most respected leaders, whose life was defined by selfless service, integrity and dedication to the public good,” Idris said.
The governor noted that Aliyu earned widespread admiration during his years in government because of his humility, honesty and commitment to the development of the state.
“He distinguished himself both as a career civil servant and as deputy governor, earning the respect of colleagues and citizens alike through his humility, honesty and commitment to the development of Kebbi State,” the statement added.
Governor Idris further said the late statesman’s contributions would remain a source of inspiration for future generations.
“His invaluable contributions to the development of our state and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of our people will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
The governor prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, while also extending condolences to Aliyu’s family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State.
“We pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and gives his family, the Yauri Emirate and the people of Kebbi State the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss,” Idris stated.
Aliyu’s death has prompted tributes from political associates and community leaders, many of whom remember him as a calm and principled figure whose years in public office were marked by dedication to the welfare of the people of Kebbi State.
