The Presidency has confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will contest the 2027 presidential election with Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate, putting to rest speculation over the composition of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket.

The confirmation came on Friday from the President’s Special Adviser on Social Media, Segun Dada, who declared that the Tinubu-Shettima partnership would remain intact.

In a post on his verified 𝕏 account, Dada shared a photograph of the President and the Vice President and wrote that the pair would remain together “till 2031,” signalling the administration’s intention to seek a second term in office in the 2027 general election.

The announcement was further reinforced by the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who affirmed that the party had settled on Tinubu and Shettima as its presidential ticket.

According to Yilwatda, the decision reflects the party’s commitment to continuity and the implementation of the current administration’s policies.

“The decision represents the ‘collective resolve to sustain the Renewed Hope Agenda and deepen the progress already being recorded across the country,'” he stated.

The APC chairman also disclosed that the nomination forms for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima had earlier been presented to the party by the President’s Special Adviser on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, during a ceremony held at the Continental Hotel in Abuja.

Yilwatda said the ruling party would continue to focus on expanding its grassroots support while consolidating the achievements of the Tinubu administration.

He added that the APC remains committed to “strengthening its grassroots support, consolidating the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda and working together to build a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Nigeria.”

The confirmation by both the Presidency and the APC leadership comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather momentum across the country.
