In a significant move to strengthen his administration, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has appointed Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

This appointment, made public shortly after Aiyedatiwa’s swearing-in as the 7th democratically elected governor of the state, underscores his commitment to experienced and strategic leadership.

Dr. Fasoranti, a distinguished administrator and medical professional, is the first son of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the national leader of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere. His appointment is seen as a nod to his rich legacy and deep-rooted understanding of governance.

Before assuming this crucial role, Dr. Fasoranti served as the Chairman of the Ondo State Hospitals Management Board, where he played a pivotal role in enhancing healthcare delivery across the state. He is known for his innovative reforms and administrative acumen. Hailing from Akure South Local Government Area, he has consistently championed progressive policies aimed at improving public welfare.

In addition to this major appointment, Governor Aiyedatiwa also confirmed the reappointment of Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, ensuring continuity in legal affairs and judicial processes. Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac has been retained as the Commissioner for Finance, reinforcing stability in the state’s financial administration.

Furthermore, several Special Advisers have been reappointed to bolster governance and service delivery. They include:

  • Engr. Johnson Alabi – Special Adviser on Power
  • Dr. Seun Osamaye – Special Adviser on Women Affairs
  • Comrade Bola Taiwo – Special Adviser on Union Matters & Special Duties
  • Prof. Simidele Odimayo – Special Adviser on Health

Additionally, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, previously the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, has been elevated to the position of Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, signifying the administration’s focus on infrastructural development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that all appointments take immediate effect, urging the newly appointed officials to hit the ground running. “The people of Ondo State deserve the best governance, and these appointments reflect our commitment to excellence. I expect all officials to demonstrate dedication and ensure that our administration delivers on its promises,” the governor stated.

Dr. Fasoranti’s appointment is expected to bring a new level of efficiency and strategic governance to Ondo State, as he steps into the role with vast experience and a strong vision for the state’s future.
