President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has intensified pressure on Nigeria’s security chiefs to swiftly address the nation’s lingering insecurity, demanding a clear timeline for its resolution.

According to Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, the president recently convened a high-level security meeting, which included the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Service Chiefs, and Defence Ministers. The discussions focused on assessing Nigeria’s security situation and formulating strategies to combat the crisis. Badaru disclosed that Tinubu is deeply concerned about the persistent security challenges and has repeatedly inquired when peace and stability would be restored.

“We are under immense pressure from President Tinubu to end insecurity in Nigeria,” Badaru stated. “He consistently questions when the problem will be fully resolved, stressing that it is long overdue. During our meeting, he directly asked the service chiefs for a definitive timeline. They assured him that by the end of the year, the situation would normalize.”

The minister emphasized that the country’s security leadership is implementing decisive measures to tackle the crisis. “The service chiefs are resolute in their commitment to eradicating insecurity. They have adopted concrete strategies to ensure the situation is brought under control in the shortest time possible,” he added.

Providing an update on notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, Badaru confirmed that he remains at large but expressed confidence that his capture is imminent. “He has not yet been arrested, but he is on the run. We are closing in on him and will apprehend him soon,” he assured.

As security operations intensify, Nigerians anticipate the fulfillment of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the nation.
