Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed security agencies to swiftly arrest and prosecute those responsible for the violent assaults on the Ido Ayegunle community, regardless of their social status.
Reacting to the attacks that led to loss of life and property, the governor expressed his shock at the audacity of the perpetrators.
“I call on residents to remain calm. The security agencies are already rounding up the perpetrators of the violence. Culprits will face justice,” Adeleke stated.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor dismissed any claims of procedural irregularities in the appointment of the new Olojudo, who has been in office since 2014.
Adeleke commended security forces for their swift response in apprehending several suspects and called for further arrests, particularly of those financing the attacks.
“I commend our security forces for their proactive measures in quelling the unrest. We must also ensure that those who incite violence and fund these criminal acts are held accountable,” he declared.
The governor also instructed the Commissioner of Police to extend the investigation to identify and apprehend the sponsors behind the attacks. Additionally, he expressed his condolences to the victims, including local residents and security personnel affected by the violence.
“Our administration remains committed to maintaining peace and security across Osun State. No one who disrupts the harmony of our communities will go unpunished,” Adeleke affirmed.
