The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has stated that his administration remains unshaken by the recent comments and actions of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor made this assertion in response to remarks by the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who declared that the party would reclaim power in Kano during the 2027 elections.

Ganduje, while addressing party members, expressed confidence in the APC’s chances, dismissing the influence of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Ganduje claimed that the support Kwankwaso previously enjoyed in Kano had waned.

“I can swear to God, if not for our internal issues, he (Kwankwaso) wouldn’t have won any election in Kano. This time around, he will see the reality. Those who supported him before are disappointed and full of regret. Kwankwasiyya is done, and even the governor is unaware of everything happening around him,” Ganduje said.

In a swift response at the Government House in Kano, Governor Yusuf dismissed Ganduje’s assertions and reiterated his administration’s focus on delivering on its mandate rather than being distracted by political threats.

“Let me be clear, whoever threatens the good people of Kano will face the consequences. We are ready, and I will not hesitate to take decisive action against them,” Yusuf said.

He further stressed that leadership is determined by God, emphasizing the divine nature of power.

“As for those talking about taking over power in 2027, let me remind you, power belongs to God. It is He who grants leadership, and we pray that He gives it only to those who have the best interests of the good people of Kano at heart,” he said.

Governor Yusuf also called on his administration and supporters to remain steadfast, expressing faith in God’s plan.

“We believe in God, and we know that no matter how many people conspire against us, they cannot succeed if God wills otherwise. We will not be intimidated or threatened,” he assured.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Kano, stating that his administration’s priority is to deliver the dividends of democracy.

“Our focus is not on 2027. Our priority is to fulfill the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Kano. Our mission is to continue delivering the dividends of democracy and serving our people diligently,” Yusuf said.

He concluded with a prayer, seeking divine strength to achieve his goals and prosperity for the state.

“May God grant us the strength and ability to achieve this and to witness 2027 in good health and prosperity,” he prayed.

The political landscape in Kano remains tense as both the APC and NNPP continue to vie for dominance in the state.
