Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved a revised work schedule for civil servants, alongside an extension of financial support for public workers over the next two months.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, clarifying that the new arrangements apply to specific groups of public servants, while essential workers such as medical staff, security personnel, political office holders, and accounting officers remain unaffected.
The statement noted that accounting officers will be responsible for determining the work schedules for employees within the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the state government.
According to the circular from the Office of the Head of Service, the revision in workdays reflects Governor Adeleke’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare and responding to the economic challenges facing the nation.
The new working days, as approved by the governor, are structured as follows:
- Civil servants from Grade Level (GL) 01 to GL.10 are to work three days a week.
- Civil servants from GL.12 to GL.17 are to work four days a week.
Additionally, the governor has sanctioned the continuation of palliative payments to public servants for the next two months, ahead of the implementation of the state’s new minimum wage policy.
“All Accounting Officers of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government, including Local Governments, are directed to comply with these changes,” the statement added.
This move by Governor Adeleke underscores his administration’s focus on alleviating the impact of economic difficulties on public servants while ensuring continued productivity across various sectors of the state.
