A video circulating on social media has captured two men, allegedly linked to political thuggery from Edo State, making threats against Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, ahead of Saturday’s election.
In the approximately four-minute video, the men, who were seen speaking with security operatives in the background, claimed they had arrived in Osun State to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
The men allegedly threatened to “capture” Adeleke if he wins the governorship election, while also warning popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, against involving himself in politics.
They also alleged that they would share ₦1 million among five people if Adeleke emerged victorious in the poll.
One of the men said:
“We told you, people, that we are coming, but you said it’s a lie. Here we are in Osun. Adeleke will learn the hard way.”
The speakers further issued a warning to Davido over his political activities and public support for his uncle, Governor Adeleke.
“Davido will learn the hard way. You said you want to sing again, now you want to do politics, we will finish you. If you put your head, you will commit suicide,” they said.
The men also called on Osun residents to vote for Oyebamiji, accusing the incumbent governor of mismanaging the state’s resources.
They claimed to have travelled from Edo State to support the APC campaign and warned Adeleke ahead of the election.
“Okpebholo is ready for you people. We are going to capture Adeleke tomorrow,” one of them said.
The identities of the men and the circumstances surrounding the recording could not be independently verified at the time of filing this report.
The video has, however, attracted attention amid heightened political tension in Osun ahead of the governorship election.
Davido Alerts Police, DSS
Reacting to the disturbing footage, Davido shared the video on 𝕏, tagging the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
The singer has in recent days expressed concerns over the possibility of violence during the Osun election and called on security agencies to protect voters and ensure a peaceful electoral process.
The latest development comes as political parties and their supporters intensify campaigns ahead of the poll, with security agencies also stepping up preparations to prevent violence before, during and after the election.
