An Enugu Air aircraft was involved in a runway excursion after landing at Benin Airport on Thursday, with all passengers and crew members emerging unhurt.
The airline confirmed the incident in a statement, assuring the public that everyone on board safely disembarked and that no injuries or fatalities were recorded.
According to the airline, the aircraft has since been secured, while the appropriate aviation authorities have been informed in accordance with established safety procedures.
“Enugu Air wishes to inform the public that one of our aircraft operating into Benin experienced a runway excursion after landing today,” the airline said.
It added, “We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked and there were no injuries or casualties.”
The carrier explained that investigations are already underway to determine what led to the incident and to assess the condition of the aircraft.
“The aircraft has been secured and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures. An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway,” the statement added.
Enugu Air also advised customers that the incident could result in temporary disruptions to its flight operations, noting that affected passengers would be informed directly and assisted accordingly.
“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance,” the airline said.
Reaffirming its commitment to safety, the airline stressed that protecting passengers, crew members and its operations remains its top priority.
“The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels,” the airline stated.
The cause of the runway excursion has not yet been determined, while aviation authorities continue their assessment of the incident.
