Nigeria Gets New Envoys as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Assigns 65 Ambassadors

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions around the world, comprising 34 non-career envoys and 31 career diplomats.

The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate of Nigeria in December, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Non-career ambassadors

Among the non-career ambassadors approved by the president are Grace Bent to Togo, Ita Enang to South Africa, Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, and Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Israel.

Others include Mahmud Yakubu to Qatar, Paul Oga Adikwu to the Vatican City, and Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines.

Also on the list are Reno Omokri to Mexico, Abasi Braimah to Hungary, and Angela Adebayo to Portugal.

Further postings include Olumilua Oluwayimika Ayotunwa to Japan, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, and Chioma Priscilla Ohakim to Poland.

Aminu Dalhatu was posted to the United Kingdom, while Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau will serve in China.

Others are Tasiu Musa Maigari to The Gambia, Olufemi Pedro to Australia, and Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu to Argentina.

The list also includes Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Joseph Sola Iji to Russia, and Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Similarly, Femi Fani-Kayode was posted to Germany, while Isaac Folorunso Adewole will serve in Canada.

Other non-career envoys include Fatima Florence Ajimobi to Austria, Lola Akande to Sweden, and Ayodele Oke to France.

Also listed are Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia, Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea, and Onueze Chukwujika Joe Okocha to Ireland.

Rounding off the list are Kulu Haruna Abubakar to Tunisia and Jerry Samuel Manwe to Trinidad and Tobago.

Career ambassadors

President Tinubu also approved postings for 31 career diplomats.

They include Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Maimuna Ibrahim Besto to Niger Republic, and Monica Okwuchukwu Enebeli to São Tomé and Príncipe.

Others are Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria, Endoni Syndoph Paebi to Burkina Faso, and Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt.

Also listed are Jane Adams Michael to Jamaica, Alexandra Clark-Omeru to Zambia, and Chima Geoffrey Lioma David to Mali.

Further postings include Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah to Equatorial Guinea, Segun Ige to Lebanon, and Ruben Abimbola Samuel to Italy.

Others include Ogechukwu Kingsley Onaga to Mozambique, Magaji Umar to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to India.

Also on the list are Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, Shehu Ilu Barde to Ghana, and Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia.

Others include Abubakar Musa Musa to Chad, Haidara Mohammed Idris to the Netherlands, and Bako Adamu Umar to Morocco.

Further appointments include Sulu Gambari Olatunji Ahmed to Malaysia, Romata Mohammed Omobolanle to Tanzania, and Shaga John Shamah to Botswana.

Also listed are Hamza Mohammed Salau to Iran, Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya, and Ibrahim Adeola Mopelola to Benin Republic.

The remaining envoys are Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel to Belgium, Akande Wahab Adekola to Switzerland, Esther Arewa to Namibia, Joseph John Gergadi to Gabon, Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata to Sierra Leone, Danladi Yakubu Nyaku to Sudan, and Haliru Bello Dogon-Daji to Thailand.

The presidency also disclosed that the United Kingdom has already granted agrément for Ambassador-designate Aminu Dalhatu, while France has approved the appointment of Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s envoy.

According to the statement, the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) has forwarded the names of the other envoys to their host countries for diplomatic clearance.

President Tinubu further directed the ministry to immediately commence an induction programme for the ambassadors and high commissioners ahead of their deployment to their respective missions.
