The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has called for an end to the ongoing criticisms directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike, Matawalle acknowledged that a significant portion of the criticism is coming from the North, but he emphasized that President Tinubu is actively working to improve the country’s economic situation.
Matawalle urged critics to stop their divisive rhetoric and instead support the President in the task of nation-building. “In the light of ongoing criticism, particularly from some quarters in Northern Nigeria, I urge critics to be positive in their narratives,” Matawalle said.
He reassured citizens that Tinubu’s economic policies are already yielding positive results across the country, urging Nigerians to unite behind the President. “It is crucial for Nigerians to stand united behind Mr. President, who is diligently working hard to revitalise our economy through a series of effective policies, programmes, and reforms,” Matawalle added.
Addressing concerns about the controversial tax reform bills, the Minister explained that the President’s proposals aim to lay the groundwork for a sustainable economy. He highlighted that the tax reforms, once fully implemented, would broaden the country’s tax base, increase government revenue, and ease the financial burden on ordinary citizens and small businesses.
“By broadening the tax base and ensuring that everyone pays their fair share, President Tinubu is laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth,” Matawalle stated. He also noted that the reforms would stimulate investment and job creation across various sectors, further contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.
Matawalle’s statement serves as a strong endorsement of President Tinubu’s efforts, urging Nigerians to support the administration’s initiatives for the long-term benefit of the country.
