The Defence Headquarters has disclosed the identities of terrorist leaders neutralized during various operations in the northern region of Nigeria. According to DHQ reports released on Thursday, the terrorist commanders met their end in separate military campaigns conducted between January and March 2024.
Among the prominent figures listed is Abu Bilal Minuki, also known as Abubakar Mainok, identified as the Head of Is-Al Furqan Province (ISGS and ISWAP). Minuki, notorious for his activities in the Birnin Gwari Forest of Kaduna State and along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway, was eliminated by troops on February 21, 2024.
Another significant figure on the list is Haruna Isiya Boderi, whose operations mirrored Minuki’s in the same region. Boderi met his demise during a military operation, further contributing to the counter-terrorism efforts.
Additionally, the Defence Media Operations Director, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, disclosed the elimination of other key figures, including Kachallah Damina, who was neutralized alongside over 50 combatants on March 24. Other names on the list include Kachallah Alhaji Dayi, Kachallah Idi (Namaidaro), Kachallah Kabiru (Doka), Kachallah Azarailu (Farin-Ruwa), Kachallah Balejo, Ubangida, and Alhaji Baldu, among several others.
Maj. Gen. Buba revealed these details during a briefing with journalists in Abuja. He further highlighted the significant achievements of the military during the period, including the neutralization of a total of 2,351 terrorists, the arrest of 2,308 suspects, and the successful rescue of 1,241 kidnapped hostages.
