President Bola Tinubu has embarked on a state visit to Doha, Qatar, following his departure from Nigeria on Thursday. The departure took place shortly after the commissioning of the first phase of the Lagos Red Rail Project at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
According to earlier reports, President Tinubu’s two-day official visit to the State of Qatar aims to bolster cooperation between Nigeria and Qatar across various sectors, including security, cultural exchange, and economic development. This visit comes in response to an invitation extended by His Highness, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, conveyed this information in a statement to journalists on Wednesday night, outlining the objectives of the visit. Tinubu’s itinerary includes witnessing the signing of several agreements aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s real sector and fostering value-additive investments across various fields such as trade, education, culture, solid minerals, digital economy, agriculture, and gas. Additionally, cooperation on counter-terrorism efforts will be a focal point.
During the visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to participate in a business and investment forum, which will convene high-level executives from both the private and public sectors of Nigeria and Qatar. The forum aims to explore cross-sectoral opportunities for mutually beneficial growth and development.
Accompanying President Tinubu on the trip are senior government officials who will participate in the signing of agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Qatar.
