Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has expressed concerns that a potential administration led by President Bola Tinubu would lead Nigerians to their grave. Lamido cited Tinubu’s announcement of intentions to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, as a cause for apprehension.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Lamido remarked on the challenges faced during the Buhari administration, including insecurity, poverty, and hunger. He argued that if Tinubu plans to continue from where Buhari left off, it signals a dire trajectory for Nigeria.
Lamido questioned, “When he said he will continue from where Buhari stopped, what has he done? When you say you want to continue from where Buhari stopped, where do you start from? From insecurity, poverty, or hunger?”
Expressing skepticism about the viability of such continuity, Lamido emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to following Buhari’s policies on various fronts, including the economy, security, corruption, and human rights.
The former governor warned that if Tinubu indeed pursues this path, Nigeria’s future would be marked by a range of challenges, including poverty, hunger, insecurity, hate, despondency, frustration, pain, and agony. He concluded by stating, “the destination is the grave.” Lamido had previously voiced similar concerns in the 2015 election, predicting that Nigeria would face difficulties if Buhari’s administration emerged victorious.
