In a poignant appeal to the government, a fish seller at Oyingbo market in Lagos State expressed the hardships faced by her and fellow Nigerians due to the challenging economic conditions.

Speaking in Yoruba, the fish vendor conveyed her plea, saying, “Government, please help us. You said we should vote for you, and now that we have voted, we are experiencing hardship. The price of fish, which used to be N30,000, has now risen to N70,000. Kote fish, previously at N15,000, is now N40,000. Have mercy on us; we are hungry. Please spare us from this pain. We can’t go out, and we can’t even afford to eat.”

She went on to highlight the impact of the economic strain on the education of their children, stating, “This is the fish we sell to train our children. We can’t send our kids to school anymore. We can’t afford to eat. This period is causing everyone pain. We don’t have the means to sell goods or even sustain ourselves. Have mercy on us, Tinubu. Lagos State Government, Sanwo-Olu, have mercy on us.”

The heartfelt plea reflects the genuine concerns of individuals grappling with the escalating cost of living, urging authorities to address the economic challenges faced by ordinary citizens.
