Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has declared that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be determined through a comprehensive needs assessment.

This announcement was made during a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, following a fact-finding mission to several government agencies under the State House’s purview.

Gbajabiamila emphasized that this needs-based approach aims to ensure that financial allocations align with the actual needs of these agencies. “Resources are finite everywhere,” he said.

“Our goal is to prioritize effectively. We need to evaluate where we stand, what the agencies have accomplished, how they measure up to their mandates, and how their objectives fit into the administration’s vision and the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He noted that some agencies may be underfunded and suggested the possibility of merging or even eliminating certain agencies. “For the 2025 budget, we will not operate in a vacuum. The budget will be driven by a thorough needs assessment,” he added.

During his visit, Gbajabiamila also emphasized his commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of employees in the agencies. He urged staff to embrace innovation, excellence, and professionalism while supporting their leaders in achieving success.

Transparency in the procurement process was highlighted as a key factor in upholding the administration’s commitment to good governance and accountability.

Gbajabiamila’s visit included meetings with representatives from the Nigeria Agriculture and Land Development Agency (NALDA), the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC), and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).

He was accompanied by Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, Deputy Chief of Staff; Olufunso Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary of the State House; and Mrs. Oyinade Nathan-Marsh, Senior Special Assistant to the President for Administration and Operations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.
