On Saturday, July 27, CSP Shola Jejeloye, Commander of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led an all-night convoy patrol through major areas of Lagos.
This operation, similar to last week’s effort, was aimed at deterring criminal activities and enhancing security in anticipation of nationwide protests scheduled from August 1 to 10.
The patrol encompassed key locations including Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Akala, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Alaka, Costain, Eko Bridge, Apongbon, Marina, Victoria Island, and the Lekki Toll Gate.
This heightened security comes as various groups prepare to protest against the rising cost of living and economic hardships facing the nation. In response, police and other security agencies are on high alert.
The operation was carried out under the directives of CP Adegoke Fayoade. A statement from the police unit posted on the Lagos State Police Command II’s X account detailed the exercise: “Around 12:00 a.m. this morning, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led by its new Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, embarked on an all-night convoy patrol of major spots in the metropolis.
“The exercise, similar to last week’s Friday morning patrol, was designed to deter crime in the state through visible policing.
“Some of the areas covered by the team included Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Akala, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Alaka, Costain, Eko Bridge, Apongbon, Marina, V/I, Lekki Toll Gate.”
