The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has commenced the enforcement of mandatory toll payments for all users of federal airports across the country. This implementation follows a directive from the President and is set to take effect starting Friday.

In a statement released on Thursday night, FAAN announced that the sale of E-Tags, which are required for toll payments, would begin at two major airports: Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

According to FAAN, motorists without E-Tags will have the option to pay cash at the access gates. However, those without the necessary tags will be liable to pay the toll fees as they pass through.

The statement from FAAN read, “Following the Presidential Directive that all citizens are mandated to pay for E-Tags at all the 24 Federal Airports across the country, we wish to inform the general public that the E-Tags are available for sale from Friday, 17th May, 2024.”

Locations for purchasing E-Tags were specified as the HOD Commercial Office on the 5th floor of Terminal 1 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and the HOD Commercial Office at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

For motorists seeking further information or assistance, contact numbers were provided for both airport locations.

This move by the federal government to introduce toll payments at airport gates was announced by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, during a briefing with State House correspondents on Wednesday.
