Breakthrough in Investigation: Nigeria Police Arrest Eight Suspects in Connection with Brutal Murder of Six Policemen

The Nigeria Police Force has achieved significant progress in the investigation into the brutal murder of six policemen in the Ohoro Forest, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, on February 23. The Force has announced the arrest of eight suspects linked to the heinous crime, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.

The fallen officers, identified as Inspector Abe Olubunmi (IRT), Inspector Friday Irorere, Sergeant Kuden Elisha, Sergeant Akpan Aniette, Sergeant Ayere Paul, and Sergeant Ejemito Friday, were ambushed during a rescue mission in the forest. Additionally, six officers remain missing from the same operation.

In a statement issued by the Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was revealed that the suspects are currently in custody and are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Adejobi emphasized that the arrests were made possible through intensive investigative efforts, with five suspects initially apprehended shortly after the incident, and three more detained at different locations subsequently.

“The arrested suspects are currently in custody and are assisting with the ongoing investigation,” stated Adejobi. “While the Nigeria Police Force is committed to ensuring that all those responsible for this reprehensible act, and many alike, are brought to justice swiftly and decisively.”

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the dedicated officers, Adejobi extended condolences to the families of the fallen heroes, emphasizing that the Nigeria Police is determined to ensure that those involved in the tragic incident face the full consequences of their actions.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen officers during this difficult time,” Adejobi remarked. “The Nigeria Police is deeply saddened by the heinous act of violence against our officers who were diligently performing their duty to protect and serve the community.”

Adejobi concluded by reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police to deliver justice for the slain officers and to uphold the rule of law, ensuring that none of the perpetrators escape accountability for their crimes.
