In response to speculations regarding the payment of ransom for the release of abducted Kuriga students, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State emphasized that such reports are inconsequential. He underscored the paramount importance of the students’ safe return, regardless of the means employed.

During an interview on Channels TV, Governor Sani addressed the recent rescue of the abducted schoolchildren from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School in Kuriga, which occurred approximately four weeks ago. Despite rumors circulating about ransom payments to the kidnappers, Governor Sani highlighted the primary concern: the safe reunion of the children with their families.

Governor Sani expressed, “What is more important today is that our children are back home. Most of those permutations are not necessary. If your child is kidnapped, will you be sitting down and talking about how he was released?” He emphasized that the focus should remain on the fact that the children are safely returned and reunited with their families.

Regarding the handling of the Kuriga schoolchildren’s abduction, Governor Sani stated that the government approached the situation discreetly to safeguard the lives of the innocent children. He emphasized that efforts were made to prevent any actions that could jeopardize their safety.

Furthermore, Governor Sani denounced attempts by some individuals to politicize the abduction incident. He asserted, “But some people who have no business with the situation are the ones coming out with some irresponsible permutations about whether ransom is being paid, whether someone had gone into the kinetic or non-kinetic approach.”
