The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has announced that he will unveil his manifesto for the 2027 general elections on November 4, explaining that ongoing consultations with Nigerians informed the delay.

Makinde, who is also the governor of Oyo State, disclosed this on Thursday during the party’s South-East town hall meeting in Enugu State.

He explained that the manifesto was being developed from feedback gathered during town hall meetings held across the six geopolitical zones, rather than through policies formulated without direct input from citizens.

According to him, the party had already visited the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-South and South-West regions before concluding its consultations in the South-East.

“We do not simply manufacture policies out of thin air. We listen to our people, hear what they want to see, and incorporate their expectations into our agenda,” Makinde said.

The governor stated that he and his team would spend the weekend finalising the document before making it public on the scheduled date.

“Over the weekend, we will work around the clock with our team to finalise our manifesto, which will be unveiled on November 4, 2026,” he said.

Makinde added that the concerns raised by participants during the consultations, alongside the party’s proposed responses to Nigeria’s major challenges, would form important parts of the manifesto.

He argued that sincerity and honesty in governance could help resolve a significant proportion of the country’s problems.

“Of course, every country faces challenges. There is no doubt about that. However, I believe that 30 per cent of these challenges can be resolved simply by demonstrating sincerity,” he said.

“When we confront these problems with honesty and sincerity, 30 per cent of them will disappear on their own,” the APM candidate added.

Outlining the key areas of his proposed agenda, Makinde said his administration would focus on economic recovery, security reforms, improvements to the education sector and changes to Nigeria’s socio-political system.

He expressed confidence that the experience gained from governing Oyo State could help his team implement similar reforms at the national level if elected.

“Having achieved this in Oyo State, we will, by the grace of God, replicate that success in Nigeria,” he said.

Makinde explained that the Reset Nigeria agenda would be built around four major priorities: resetting the economy, restructuring the country’s security architecture, reforming education and resetting the socio-political space.

The APM vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, also expressed the party’s readiness to tackle the challenges confronting Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

Daura said the campaign team had identified key national problems and was prepared to propose solutions aimed at improving governance and delivering better outcomes for citizens.

“We must confront these crises and challenges if Nigeria is to achieve its noble objectives, as enshrined in our Constitution and reflected in our national anthem, which we sing whenever we gather,” he said.

He described the party’s presidential ticket as committed to reform rather than experimentation with the country’s future.

“The presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde and I are determined to undertake this mission,” Daura stated.

“We are not actors, nor are we here to experiment with the future of our country. We are Reseters here to reform the system and make it work for the people,” he added.

The planned manifesto unveiling is expected to provide further details of the APM’s policy proposals as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.
