Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, has alleged that some individuals are working to undermine his governorship ambition in Gombe State, vowing to publicly expose those behind the alleged scheme.
Pantami, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, made the allegation in a video shared on his Facebook page, where he said investigations had helped him identify those allegedly involved in efforts to frustrate his political aspiration.
He maintained that the alleged plot was real and promised to disclose the identities of the individuals and details of their activities in the coming days.
“Our investigations have now confirmed that these allegations are true. There is no amount of money or effort that has not been expended in an attempt to scuttle this movement,” Pantami said.
His remarks come after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) excluded his name from the final list of candidates for the 2027 Gombe State governorship election, raising uncertainty over his participation in the race.
Despite the development, the former minister urged his supporters not to lose hope or allow criticism and uncertainty surrounding his candidacy to weaken their commitment.
He also expressed appreciation to residents who had organised prayers and mobilised support for his governorship ambition, describing their efforts as a demonstration of faith and dedication.
“You canvassed support, mobilised people, enlightened them and remained steadfast throughout this period. This is commendable, and this is a sign of true piety,” he said.
Pantami encouraged his supporters to remain patient and continue praying, assuring them that the challenges confronting his political ambition should not be a reason for discouragement.
“Do not relent. Do not be angry or discouraged, because you are the ones who will be elevated, provided you remain steadfast in your belief in Allah,” he added.
The former minister maintained that his exclusion from INEC’s published list represented a temporary setback rather than the end of his governorship ambition.
However, he did not publicly identify the individuals he accused of working against his candidacy in the video, saying he would reveal further details at a later time.
The controversy adds another dimension to preparations for the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State, as questions remain over Pantami’s candidacy following his omission from INEC’s final list.
