Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly acknowledged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as his political leader, describing him as his “oga” (boss).
The governor made the remark on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing projects across the state. Speaking with journalists during the inspection, Fubara expressed confidence in the pace of work and assured residents that the projects would be completed by October this year.
According to him, contractors have made significant progress and only require adequate funding and administrative support to meet the agreed timeline. He said the state government remains committed to fulfilling its promises to the people of Rivers State.
Fubara also highlighted the importance of one of the key projects, noting that it was originally conceived by Wike during his tenure as governor. He said the former Rivers State governor had a clear and ambitious vision, adding that completing the project within record time would help consolidate public confidence in his administration.
Despite recent political tensions in the state, Fubara said he is determined to ensure that the project is delivered as planned, stressing that personal and political differences should not derail development efforts.
Meanwhile, Wike has confirmed that the rift between him and the Rivers State governor has been resolved. The FCT minister attributed the reconciliation to the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as a unifying figure.
According to Wike, the president’s leadership played a crucial role in easing tensions between the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State. He emphasized that the overriding priority is peace and progress in the state.
“The most important thing is for Rivers State to move forward,” Wike said, expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for facilitating the understanding that led to the restoration of political harmony.
