The Presidency has praised the ongoing transformation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, under the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
This commendation was shared on Tuesday by Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Ajayi highlighted the significant strides made by Wike in reshaping Abuja and noted that the minister is well deserving of the ThisDay Minister of the Year Award.
“Most people living in Abuja will readily agree that he truly deserves the Minister of the Year Award, the landscape in Abuja is changing every day with the speed and determination he brings to his work as the Minister of FCT.” Ajayi posted.
He also humorously referenced Wike’s penchant for celebrating achievements in his past roles, adding, “So Minister Wike didn’t bring that his Port Harcourt musician to sing nyedeba nyedeba for him at the ThisDay/AriseNews award yesterday night.”
Wike’s tenure as the Minister of FCT has been marked by the rapid completion and inauguration of critical infrastructure projects. Within a span of just six days, the minister successfully commissioned six road projects across all six area councils of the FCT.
According to Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media, the commissioning began on Monday, January 20, underscoring Wike’s commitment to fast-tracking development in the capital city.
The projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance mobility, improve urban aesthetics, and ensure Abuja’s infrastructure meets the demands of its growing population.
The minister’s hands-on approach and visible results have earned him widespread praise from residents and stakeholders. Many believe his determination to deliver impactful projects has set a new benchmark for public service in the FCT.
One resident of Abuja, who spoke anonymously, said, “We’ve not seen this kind of speed and commitment in years. The roads being commissioned will ease traffic and improve connectivity across the city.”
