Vice President Kashim Shettima has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not in the habit of shifting blame for challenges facing his administration, stressing that the President takes full responsibility for his decisions and actions.
Shettima made the remarks on Wednesday while speaking at the Agric Development and Investment Summit in Abuja, where he praised Tinubu’s leadership style and defended the administration’s ongoing economic reforms.
According to the Vice President, President Tinubu becomes displeased whenever people criticise the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, insisting that the current President prefers to accept responsibility for his own government rather than blame his predecessor.
“He is not someone who is fond of the blame game. For the past three years, the easiest way to earn the wrath of President Tinubu is to criticise Muhammadu Buhari. No, the buck stops at his desk and he is ready to take responsibility for whatever comes out of his actions,” Shettima said.
The Vice President described Tinubu as a courageous leader willing to make difficult but necessary decisions aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy for long-term growth.
He noted that although some of the administration’s policies have required sacrifices, early signs indicate that the reforms are beginning to produce positive results.
Shettima further expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic future, saying the country remains central to Africa’s development and is well-positioned to drive growth across the continent.
He called on development partners, investors and other stakeholders to continue supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to transform the economy and deliver sustainable prosperity.
According to him, the success of the ongoing reforms will depend not only on government policies but also on the collective commitment of both local and international partners to Nigeria’s development agenda.
