President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election following the conclusion of the party’s nationwide primaries held on Saturday.
Tinubu secured the party’s ticket after defeating his only challenger, APC chieftain and businessman, Stanley Osifo, in the exercise conducted across the country’s 8,809 wards and 774 local government areas.
The APC leadership officially declared the president winner of the primary on Sunday and subsequently presented him with the party’s Certificate of Return and flag as its standard-bearer for the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking after receiving the party’s flag, Tinubu expressed appreciation to APC members and delegates for their confidence in his leadership.
“I am deeply honoured by the overwhelming support shown to me by members of our great party across the country. This victory belongs to every loyal APC member committed to the progress and unity of Nigeria,” he said.
The president pledged to continue pursuing policies aimed at economic recovery, national security and infrastructural development if re-elected in 2027.
“We will continue to build on the reforms already initiated to reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth and prosperity. I assure Nigerians that I remain committed to delivering the dividends of democracy,” Tinubu stated.
